SINGULAR - PLURAL

PLURAL

Normalmente se forma el plural en inglés con una sola s. Examples:

One book                                       five books

One car                                   two cars

EXCEPCIONES:

Si la palabra termina en sh, ch, s, x, o, z, añadimos es. Examples:

One church                     two churches

     
   One bus                                two busses

 
    One box                                two boxes    

                      

   
     
One buzz                                  eight buzzes

 One tomato                       three tomatoes

One potato                       four potatoes

Si la palabra termina en consonante + y, normalmente cambiamos la y por una i y añadimos es. Examples:

One baby                                 two babies

 


One butterfly                        twelve butterflies

Si la palabra termina en vocal + y, normalmente añadimos sólo una s. Examples:

One boy                          two boys

Si la palabra termina en una e, sólo añadimos una s. Examples:

One apple                               three apples

Las palabras que terminan en f o fe forman el plural cambiando la f o fe por ves. Examples:

         

One leaf                        eight leaves

             

One knife                             two knives

 
Hay algunos nombres que tienen una forma totalmente diferente en singular y en plural. Examples:

   


One man                               two men

One woman                              two women

       

One child                        two children

         

One foot                               two feet

       

One tooth                               many teeth

       

One ox                             two oxen

One mouse                           three mice

    One louse                             two lice

One gentleman                   two gentlemen

 

One person                      many people

           

One goose                             three geese

Algunos nombres tienen en inglés, igual forma en singular y en plural. Examples:

   

One fish                           four fish

       

One sheep                            two sheep

       

One deer                                      two deer

 

One moose                          two moose
